Avery Williams was born on the plains of Montana where the great Rocky Mountains rise out of the prairie. He has spent many seasons there perfecting his style amongst his family, ranchers with deep roots in the land and strong country traditions. Early on, Avery realized he could become a classical singer. As he worked through countless long hours of solitude on a tractor or watering his father's crops, a dream grew inside him. When he was a teenager, Avery sought the assistance of Fay Buness, a wonderful and reputable Helena teacher, who instilled in him a love of classical vocal repertoire and a passion for performance. With the help of Mrs. Buness, he was bringing audiences to tears at the age of sixteen. Avery studied as a baritone until after high school when he fell into the hands of Lowell Hickman, the beloved choral director at Montana State University in Bozeman. Mr. Hickman saw tremendous talent and potential in Avery that the singer himself hadn't realized. He encouraged Avery to continue studying and to make the switch to tenor. Had it not been for Mr. Hickman's keen sensibility and unwavering dedication, the world may never have known of Avery's brilliant gift. Avery continues to learn repertoire from the classics and seeks auditions throughout the Northwest. He can be found studying opera at the Universtiy of Montana in Missoula. |
